Clarissa Harlowe Barton (December 25, 1821 – April 12, 1912) was a pioneering American nurse who founded the American Red Cross. She was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 1973.Volume 2 begins with Clara Barton's efforts to establish and then lead the American Red Cross, her travels in the latter part of her life and the work she did outside of the US to assist other countries in need. - Summary by Wikipedia, and Phyllis Vincelli
